DeviantArt closed commissions. Where to take them now

DeviantArt removed its commissions feature on 1 July 2026. If your clients used to find and pay you there, here is a way to keep taking paid work without chasing payments.

What changed

DeviantArt stopped new commission listings on 1 May 2026 and removed the commissions feature on 1 July 2026. Selling there now goes through Originals, Exclusives, subscriptions and premium downloads. Anyone who took custom work through DeviantArt commissions now needs another way to get briefed, get paid and deliver.

What we do differently

  • Paid up front, every time. The client pays in full when they award you the job. We hold it. You start when you get the “funded” email — never on a promise.
  • Sketch rounds are agreed in your proposal. Extra rounds beyond that are a new conversation, in writing, on the project page.
  • No ghosting. If a client goes quiet after you deliver the final, the files and your payment are released automatically after 14 days.
  • Clients with real jobs. Authors needing covers, small studios needing character art, brands needing mascots, couples needing portraits — each brief has a budget, a date and the use stated.
  • Bring your own clients. Once approved, you get a commission link. Send it to anyone who DMs you; they brief you directly and pay through us, with the same protection.

The fee

12% of your price, taken from your side; the client pays exactly what you quote. On a $450 cover you receive $396. There are no paid boosts or listing fees. For comparison, Fiverr takes 20% from sellers.

Who we accept

We review every portfolio ourselves. Hand-made work only — no traced, stolen or AI-generated art. That's what lets clients trust the board, and it's why they don't need to haggle you down.
